Our New Partnership!
We are very excited
to announce our Community Partnership with the Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation. John battled with type 1 diabetes from the young age of four, and it's because of his struggles that we hope families and children learn more about this condition. We are confident that JDRF is the foundation that is dedicated to such an important mission.
Here is a bit about
this great research foundation...
Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with type 1
diabetes to find a cure for diabetes. JDRF provides social, emotional and
practical support to children and adults who are newly diagnosed with diabetes
and to their families.
JDRF local chapters
offer a diverse support network, including one-to-one connections, practical
information, fundraising, and advocacy activities to the families in our area. Services range from support groups to the welcoming hand of JDRF’s Bag of Hope outreach program, linking them with JDRF volunteer
families.
The local chapter also directs supporters to such events as the JDRF
Walk to Cure Diabetes and to advocacy initiatives seeking to influence public
policy on diabetes research.
JDRF is also
currently funding two separate research grants at UC Davis totaling close to a
million dollars.

Our Cause
When we think about what The Corner Restaurant & Bar means to us, we think of a family friendly place, a place to enjoy great times with friends and loved ones, and a place that makes us smile. It's a place that we believe our youngest son, brother and friend would enjoy very much.
His name is John Robert Thompson, son of Jerry and Joyce Thompson and brothers Jerry Jr. and Joel. John lost his tough battle to cancer December 11, 2005 at the young age of 24. It's in memory of this fun-loving, picky-eating, and vibrant son, brother and friend that we specifically carry the "JohnJohn" on our menu.
Every time the "JohnJohn," a delicious double meat, double cheese pizza is ordered, we reserve a portion of the proceeds to be donated to a local charity expanding critical research. It's just one of the small ways we do our part in memory of John.
